The Curse of the Crying Eye

Chapter 1

The Beginning

On a dark, cold summer’s day there were threatening clouds hovered over Derry, New Hampshire.  Three kids were on their way to Vacation Church School, but little did they know what horror was going to come that day. One of the kid’s names was Jake. He was a very funny person and liked adventure. Rebecca was a person who liked to make jewelry and loved mystery computer games. Ceara was an amateur detective and was always looking for a mystery. The kids finally arrived at the church and were excited to start working. The kids were really working hard helping the adults set up for Vacation Church School. When the kids were done, they went outside. After a quick breather Jake spoke up and said, “Hey look at the cemetery over there! Let’s go check it out!”

The girls were a little nervous about this but reluctantly agreed to go. The cemetery was really creepy and the tombstones were falling apart and there were some that the names were faded so it was difficult to read. Some tombstones were marble or some other kind of stone, but there was one tombstone in particular that was made out of metal. The kids noticed it and went to investigate. The tombstone had strange markings on it but the weirdest one was the eye. The girls were amazed at this, but Jake on the other hand was being a bit more adventurous and saw a button on the other side of the tombstone and said, “Hey I wonder what this does?”

The girls weren’t sure what he was talking about. When Rebecca noticed what he was talking about it was already too late. Jake pushed the button. All of a sudden the sky turned black and the wind was blowing immensely. “Let’s get out of here!” screamed Ceara.

The kids ran as fast as they could toward the church. When they got to the church they were out of breath. When everyone got their breath, no one said anything until Jake said, “I don’t think I should’ve done that.”

“Ya think?!” exclaimed Ceara.

“What do you think happened?” asked Rebecca.

“I don’t know, but it doesn’t look good,” said Jake.

“Let’s go into the sanctuary, it’s probably time to start,” suggested Rebecca.

Rebecca and Ceara were running around trying to help everyone while Jake was in recreation helping out.

Rebecca started taking pictures of the crafts and Ceara helped the snack makers. All of a sudden a blood-curling scream came from the hallway. Jake ran to the hallway and found a little girl whose nametag said Sophia rolling on the floor in pain. Jake panicked and he ran to get help but something wasn’t right the screaming stopped! Jake turned around and to his surprise the little girl looked perfectly fine. She got up and stared at Jake then ran away. Jake was scared. As he was walking back to recreation he said to himself, “What’s happening to me?”

Chapter 2

Trouble A’ brews

Jake told the girls what happened and both of them looked worried,

“This must have something to do with the button you pushed!” exclaimed Rebecca.

“What do you think, Ceara?” asked Jake.

“I don’t think it has to do with the button. It probably was just a … just … just a coincidence,” said Ceara nervously.

The other two were not so sure about this but decided not to discuss it any further. It was now near the end of the day and the three kids went into the sanctuary. No one was up there yet, not even the leader (who was always up there.) The kids were discussing the events that day when all of a sudden the organ started playing. They jumped up and stared at the organ. All around them the sanctuary started to change. The pews were filled with women in beautiful gowns and men in old-fashioned three-pieced suits complete with top hats. There were doors on the pews and up in front sat the very first pastor of the church. The kids didn’t realize it until Ceara said, “Do you realize what’s happening?”

The others thought a moment. Then Rebecca said, “We’ve gone into the past!”

Ceara looked out the window and said, “The church isn’t the only thing changing. LOOK!” Rebecca and Jake turned around to where Ceara was pointing at, and right before their eyes were horses and buggies parked on the grass and in the distance was the graveyard.

“Maybe we should get to the graveyard. That’s probably where all our questions will be answered,” said Rebecca.

The cemetery was very different. It was new. The kids found the tombstone. What they saw was an unforgettable sight. The eye was crying but these weren’t just normal tears. They were tears of blood. At the base of the tombstone was a pool of blood. Rebecca and Ceara both looked at Jake with an expression of “this is all your fault.” Suddenly a spidery hand shot up and grabbed Rebecca’s ankle and dragged her down toward the underground. Jake and Ceara didn’t notice this until Rebecca screamed. Jake broke the hands grip and Ceara pulled Rebecca toward the entrance to the cemetery and put her at the gate.

“Is she okay?” asked Jake.

“Yeah, she’s just unconscious,” said Ceara.
